Celebrating Imbolc - February 1| Witches Wheel of the Year
What is Imbolc?
Imbolc (pronounced IM-bolk or IM-bulc) is a traditional pagan festival marking the halfway point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox, honoring purification, renewal, and the returning light.
Imbolc marks the quiet turning of the year & it’s lowkey one of my favorite sabbots. After a cold, dark winter I cherish the small intentional moments of springs return.
Imbolc is a time of purification, inspiration, and the gentle return of light. It’s a threshold between winter and spring, where intention matters more than action and small sparks are deeply sacred.
Ways to honor Imbolc & celebrate the sabbot:
• Cleanse your home or altar with the intention of clearing stagnant energy
• Make a Brigid’s cross from rushes, grass, or reeds
• Set intentions for growth in the coming season
• Write poetry or work on creative projects
• Plant seeds indoors or plan your spring garden
• Visit a well or water source for purification and blessing
• Light candles throughout your home to welcome the returning sun
• Look for the subtle return of spring in nature
Imbolc reminds us that not all beginnings are loud. Some arrive softly asking to be tended with care…
