Surrender to Pleasure — Tarot Spread for Savoring Life
There’s a sweetness to life that’s easy to overlook when we’re caught up in deadlines and responsibilities. But pleasure and play are not luxuries, at least not in my world, they’re essential.
This tarot spread was created as an invitation to savor and reconnect with the parts of life that feel lush and fulfilling.
This spread was inspired by Dionysus, the Greek god of wine, fertility, and ecstasy (okay, and madness but let’s omit that part for now).
Who is Dionysus?
In Greek mythology, Dionysus is the son of Zeus, often depicted with a crown of ivy and a cup of wine in hand. He presided over theater, music, dance, and ritual. He led people into altered states where they could connect to the divine through ecstasy. His followers, known as maenads, were said to dance themselves into trance, embodying freedom and wild abandon.
Dionysus represents the part of us that longs to step out of control and let go. His energy reminds us that sacredness is not only found in discipline but also in celebration, play, and the freedom of letting go.
